Before we even book you for a Neurotox^® treatment, our team of specialists will need to meet with you for a consultation. During this consultation, we will discuss your goals and the treatment options that we believe will meet them.

First, we will take clinical photographs of your areas of concern. We like to begin taking pictures before the treatments take place so we can track your improvements and compare results post-procedure.

Then, we will identify and clarify your goals. Is there one part of your body that you would like to enhance? Would you like to focus on anti-aging treatments, or do you have something more specific in mind? After this step, it is time for us to develop and document your personal treatment plan. This plan will give specific details on what procedures we recommend, when to receive them, and how to maintain the results in the future. Once you have reviewed your plan and approved it, it is time to begin treatments. In many cases, injections can start immediately after the consultation. Or, you can make an appointment for a later date that is more convenient for you.

When you schedule your treatment, make sure you do not take any medications that can thin your blood. For example, taking Aspirin, fish oil, and/or vitamin E could increase your skin’s chances of bruising post-Neurotox^®. It is also a good idea to avoid alcohol and cigarettes a few days before your appointment.

Right before you come into our office, make sure you wash your face and cleanse your skin. We will also make sure the injection site is cleansed before beginning the process.

NEUROTOX^®: THE PROCEDURE

Now, let’s talk about everything you need to know about Neurotox^® procedures.

To break it down to its simplest definition, Neurotox^® is a cosmetic treatment in which botulinum toxin is injected into the muscles. Certain nerve signals are blocked when this occurs, allowing the muscles at the injection site to relax. Neurotox^® treatments are painless—before the cosmetic specialist begins the injection process, they will apply a local anesthetic cream directly to the area. After this, the procedure only takes about 15-30 minutes, allowing our patients to return to their everyday lives with ease.

AFTER NEUROTOX^®

Immediately after your Neurotox^® treatment, you should expect some redness at the injection site. This may last for 30 minutes to an hour post-procedure. It is also normal to notice light bruising around the area. Any bruises should heal within two days.

Other than that, patients should not expect any other side effects after receiving Neurotox^®. The full results of the Neurotox^® treatment can be recognized within 10 days and can last up to six months. Our team recommends patients make follow-up appointments every three to four months to ensure that their original goals are still met.

In terms of aftercare, we have some recommendations. Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, and facial massages during the first 24 hours following treatment. It is also a good idea to stay make-up-free for this amount of time as well. Applying cosmetics to the treated area could disperse the main ingredient of Neurotox^® to other parts of the face.

Try not to touch your face too much, and avoid sleeping on the treated area for at least four hours. If you’re having any discomfort, make sure you ask your doctor about medications and other suggestions. The main goal of Neurotox^® aftercare is eliminating the possibility of bruising, so make sure you listen to your specialist and ask questions after your appointment.
