Everything begins drooping as we age. If you notice you look more tired at a certain age, you can see a difference in appearance around your eyebrow area. Most people notice these changes in their 40s and 50s. Your eyebrows will show a positioning different from where they used to be.

In addition to noticing your eyebrows sagging or drooping, you will see laxity on your brow line and upper eyelids. You will also notice lines forming across your forehead. Such changes can make you look older and tired. Drooping eyebrows also look flat as they lose the raised arch they had before.

Technically, the position of the brow line should be above your eyebrow bone or the orbital. You can combat this through a non-surgical brow lift, which is a less invasive method of restoring the placement of your brows.

WHAT IS A NON-SURGICAL BROW LIFT?

A non-surgical brow lift is a procedure that raises and tightens the skin on your eyebrows and forehead for cosmetic purposes. It helps smoothen the wrinkles between the eyebrows, remove lines across your forehead, lift drooping brows, and open the eyes.

TYPES OF NON-SURGICAL BROW LIFTS

The most common type of non-surgical brow lift is the botulinum type, commonly known as Botox®. The treatment works by relaxing muscles and smoothing the deep groves and worry lines that form across your forehead. When the muscles around your eyebrows become relaxed, your brows lift to give you a more youthful appearance.

Using PDO threads to lift your eyebrows is also a non-surgical cosmetic procedure. It gives your face a youthful appearance and leaves you with no scars. The PDO threads lift your brows, tightening them and part of your face above the eyes.

WHAT TO EXPECT

A registered professional will begin by studying your face to determine what type of non-surgical brow lift will suit you. With botulinum, your doctor will inject it directly into your corrugator muscles. You may feel a short-lived discomfort during the injection. The procedure will be comfortable due to the topical anesthesia used.

With PDO threads, your doctor will insert them into your skin to provide a rejuvenating effect by lifting the eyebrows. You will receive a topical cream to numb the treatment area 30 minutes before the procedure.

After the half-hour period, the treatment site gets cleaned and prepped. Your specialist will use a local anesthetic in the areas that will need threading to prevent pain during the insertion of the threads. The procedure will not paralyze your facial muscles, and you will not lose any movement or facial expressions on the upper third of the face.

AFTERCARE

It is essential not to wear any makeup for at least two days after your treatment. Your doctor will also advise you to refrain from exercising for the next 48 hours after your treatment. You may need to sleep on your back while facing up for a few weeks after your treatment. However, this depends on the type of non-surgical brow lift your doctor used.

RESULTS

It should be normal to experience soreness, swelling, or minor bruising after the treatment. But these resolve after a few days of recovery. If your doctor uses botulinum injections, you may notice the changes after two weeks because the toxin takes time to work. The effect can last around two to seven months based on your physiology and the dosage you received.

You can get immediate results if the treatment uses PDO threads. The threads usually dissolve after three to six months. But even after dissolving, they still have a lifting effect on your skin as they stimulate collagen production.
