How It Works: IPL stands for Intense Pulsated Light, also called Flashlamp treatments. IPLs use filtered, non-coherent light to selectively destroy melanin laden cells, blood – filled capillaries, and hair roots in a process called Selective Photothermolysis. Photothermolysis uses light of an appropriate wavelength in pulses that damage the part of skin cells responsible for unsightly color. We selected a system that delivers a very uniform pulse profile which can help clear skin in just 1 to 2 treatments.

Recovery: Recent studies show that IPL is effective at reducing 70% of skin pigmentation. However one can expect a darkening of freckles, age spots, liver spots, etc. and a slight “dirty skin discoloration” over burst fine capillaries immediately after each treatment. These would then fade after 1-2 weeks to reveal a much clearer complexion.
There may be minimal discomfort during the procedure, similar to the snap of a rubber band. Some swelling can be expected at the treatment sight for a few hours after the procedure There is a follow up visit 7-10 days after the procedure for a microdermabrasion session.
