Affected Areas: A strong chewing muscle (the masseter muscle) is often referred to as a “square jaw.” This condition can be inherited, acquired among people who grind their teeth at night and people who suffer from TMJ disorder, or those who unconsciously use these muscles excessively when stressed.

How it Works: Square jaw reduction allows us to sculpt the muscle to create more feminine lines. By blocking the action of selected muscles, we can cause eventual atrophy or loss of muscle size. BOTOX® is injected into the masseter muscle. Although the muscles do get weaker, it never interferes with your ability to chew.

Recovery: The follow-ups for this procedure differ from wrinkle treatments. The initial 3-5 follow-ups are deliberately timed very closely to ensure that the muscle targeted is kept weak for at least one year. Only then will atrophy take place and the desired face shape be obtained.
