How it works: A concentrated beam of light is aimed at unwanted hair. The pigment in the hair follicle absorbs this light, damaging the follicle enough to prevent future hair growth. Laser hair removal can permanently reduce hair from re-growing.

Recovery: During the procedure, patients may feel slight discomfort. Depending on personal pain tolerance, this can feel like anything from a gentle pinch to the snap of a rubber band against the skin. Post-procedure redness and goose bumps are common but should subside within 24 hours. Since the procedure leaves hair follicles open for a few days, patients occasionally experience breakouts. An antibacterial lotion can prevent these blemishes.
