Affected Areas: Cellulite is a skin change that appears as dimpling in the thighs and buttocks. The dimpling is the result of tension placed on the skin by fibrous bands that course through fat. Subcision is a treatment option newly available to our patients that is used to improve the appearance of cellulite.

How it Works: Subcision involves inserting a specially designed needle into the fat to release the tethering bands that cause cellulite. This process is done in the office using local anesthesia. In certain cases when the dimple is deeper, we usually combine subcision with fat injection for better results.

Recovery: There is minimal downtime associated with the subcision treatment. Bruising is fairly common, which could take up to a week to resolve. Otherwise, the patient can return to normal activities within the same day.
