Drooping of the face and neck is caused by the sagging of the sub dermal facial layer, called the Superficial Musculo Aponeurotic System. SMAS functions as a suspension to overlying skin and soft tissue. As we age this becomes loose causing the skin and fat pads to gravitate, giving the face a sad and tired expression. Lifting and fixing the SMAS in a better position causes repositioning of soft tissue and facial structures thus restoring the facial contour. Traditionally this has always been accomplished by an “open” surgical technique. Now, the same procedure can be performed in a “closed” technique using a very tiny puncture incision in the scalp to introduce the non-absorbable sutures which lift and tighten the drooping deeper tissue and fix it to a stable tissue in the scalp thus restoring the facial contour to a more vibrant youthful look. “Cosmolift™” is much superior to thread lift, contour lift and feather lift.
